South Side man attacked in his home

YOUNGSTOWN —  Police said an East Pasadena Avenue man was surprised by an intruder in his home who entered his home through an unlocked door and then assaulted him after demanding cash.

Anthony Riviotta, 35, told police he was in his kitchen when the man walked in through an unlocked side door around 11:40 a.m. today and asked for money.

Riviotta said that when he told the man there wasn’t any money, the intruder picked up a metal rake standing just inside the house near the door and struck him in the forehead, causing two puncture wounds.

Riviotta said he began struggling with the man who knocked him down and jumped on top of him.

The struggle continued briefly before the intruder jumped up and ran out of the house without taking anything, Riviotta told police.

Police responding to a call of a home invasion said they found Riviotta standing in his kitchen bleeding from the head and his left elbow.

Officers searched the area but didn’t find the suspect, described as a black man about 30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall an weighing about 170 pounds. He had short curly black hair and was wearing a white sleeveless shirt and blue jeans.
