Fewer than 100 power outages remain from Friday's storm
YOUNGSTOWN — By dark tonight, the remaining 100 or so places without electric power — mostly in Youngstown — should have it restored, said Paul Harkey, Ohio Edison area manager.
The high winds and heavy rains that hit Mahoning County on Friday afternoon toppled many trees and brought down powerlines all over northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. About 80,000 Ohio Edison customers were without power immediately after the storm.
Harkey said the projection had been that power would be restored to all electric customers by Monday evening, but thanks to 150 extra crews from sister companies, the work was accelerated.
