Pregnant woman dies as car flips, lands in trees

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

YOUNGSTOWN — Shortly after 1 p.m. today a car driven by a pregnant woman on Center Street, just up the hill from Wilson Avenue, flipped and landed in the trees, killing the woman and injuring a young passenger.

A coroner’s investigator was on the scene at 1:45 p.m. Around 2:30 p.m., the woman’s body was removed from the wreckage and placed in the coroner’s van. A witness said the dead woman was due to give birth Sunday. The female child who was also in the car was seriously injured.

Initial reports were that a shooting took place just before the car flipped. Earlier, a fight between two women broke out across the street from where the car flipped. When asked if what took place was the result of a love triangle, a witness nodded her head.

A woman in the crowd that formed after the accident said, “They should have never came over here.”
