Union won't say why Forum nurses have to vote on pact again

YOUNGSTOWN — Registered nurses employed at Forum Health Northside Medical Center and Beeghly Medical Park were to vote again todayTue on a contract that was approved last Friday and then nullified because of a “procedural” problem.

Union officials refused to say what the problem was.

Today’sTuesday’s voting sessions are at 8 a.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown.

Nurses approved a one-year work agreement with Forum Health on Friday, but the results were nullified by the union after tellers counting the votes discovered a “procedural” problem, said Linda Warino, Ohio Nurses Association District 3 director.

Warino declined to discuss specifics about the problem, but emphasized that nothing illegal occurred. Neither would she disclose the number of votes cast Friday nor the specific votes for and against the contract.
