Niles Wellness Center moves closer to becoming a reality

NILES — City council has taken the first step in seeking bids for the construction of the $3.7 million Niles Wellness Center.

Meeting in special session today, lawmakers moved to a second of three required readings on legislation that gives the director of public service the authority to advertise for construction bids.

Council will have special meetings at 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday in the city hall conference room to finalize the legislation.

The self-sustaining center proposed by Mayor Ralph A. Infante will be constructed in Waddell Park on the city’s west side.
