Brookfield schools official taken away in handcuffs

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

BROOKFIELD — Police walked Frank Baker of Erie Street in Masury off of school grounds in handcuffs less than 48 hours after board of education members voted to offer him a one-year contract as transportation supervisor.

Baker had been employed as a bus mechanic for Warren City Schools until June 28 when he was terminated, according to the meeting agenda, for violating “the employment provisions of Ohio Revised Code 3319.081 for incompetence, willful neglect of duty, and willful violation of the policies of the board or administrative guidelines of the district.”

A spokesperson for the Warren School District would not state the exact reasons for Baker’s termination, but records at the Warren Police Department show that a felony warrant for theft of general property had been taken out on Baker.

Baker is being held in the Trumbull County Jail. According to board member Ronda Bonekovic, Baker was taken into custody while on school grounds Wednesday.
