YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Department of Job and Family Services will be open for business Monday morning at Oakhill Renaissance Place just as the taxpayers’ lawsuit by the department’s former landlord to rescind the county’s purchase of Oakhill goes to trial.
A greeting on the department’s main telephone line announced that the department was to be open at Garland Plaza, 709 N. Garland Ave., through the close of business last Friday, and would reopen Monday morning at Oakhill, 345 Oak Hill Ave., the former Forum Health Southside Medical Center.
The 300 JFS employees will start occupying temporary quarters at Oakhill as the trial will begin before visiting Judge Richard M. Markus of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
The taxpayers’ lawsuit was filed against the county by the Ohio Valley Mall Co., a division of the Cafaro Co., which had been JFS’ landlord at Garland Plaza for 19 years.
