Columbiana Co. airport poised to better its taxiways

MADISON — Before the snow flies, the Columbiana County Airport Authority plans to improve its taxiways.

The authority has received a $7,895 grant from the Patrick Foundation, which is based in Atlanta.

Local residents William Smith and his wife, Dorothea, obtained the money. She is a member of the Patrick family, said John Sayle, authority chairman and chief executive officer of Hall China Co. in East Liverpool.

The authority contributed some $2,239. Those two amounts will allow the airport to come up with its 5 percent local share to get $192,559 in Federal Aviation Administration funding to provide better taxiways.
