Authorities mulling where to try man accused in agent's shooting
YOUNGSTOWN — Prosecutors are meeting with federal agents today to determine the proper place to try the man who they say shot an undercover federal agent yesterday.
William L. Amos, 22, of East Florida Avenue, turned himself over to authorities at about midnight, after a 8-hour intensive manhunt on the city's South Side. He was scheduled to be arraigned this morning in municipal court. His case was carried over until tomorrow.
Detective John Kelty said prosecutors had not yet decided whether he would be charged with felonious assualt or attempted murder. The federal agent, whose identity has not been released, was shot in the foot at a home East Judson Avenue. His injuries are not life threatening, said Kelty.
