Chandler pitches Poland to state title game


BUCYRUS — Emily Chandler pitched a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts as Poland rolled past Lucasville, 12-4, on Tuesday to advance to the championship game of the girls 11-12 Little League state fast-pitch softball tournament.

Kali Benson led Poland’s 14-hit attack by slamming a home run and double and driving in three runs.

Poland, 3-0 in the state meet under manager Gary Chandler, will play in Thursday’s final at 6 p.m. against either Conneaut, Elyria or Lucasville.

Last Saturday in Poland’s state opener, Emily Chandler pitched a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts as her team lashed 12 hits to defeat Englewood, 9-1, in its state opener

In Poland’s second game last Sunday, Kasie Serich pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 9-0 win over Bucyrus. Poland was backed by another 12-hit game.
