Rondinelli, Astro Falcons stay unbeaten in tourney


Rondinelli Tuxedo and Astro Falcons both are 3-0 in the
Connie Mack Tournament.

STRUTHERS — Rondinelli Tuxedo continued its hot hitting, compiling 13 hits to drop previously undefeated Hurricane 14-8 in Connie Mack action Monday at Cene Park.

Leadoff hitter Chuck Olseky had four hits and Matt Katich added three hits and five RBIs for Rondinelli (3-0), which will meet Astro (3-0) at 8 p.m. today in fifth-round action.

Cory McGinnis got the win and Andy Dobson got the three-inning save.

For Hurricane (2-1), Joe Lewendowski had three hits while Nick Jones and Mike DeBond had two each.

Astro 15, Springfield Armoloy

Drew Turocy had three hits — all for extra bases — and Joe Koch had four hits for Astro, which had 15 hits total.

Mark Lapikas added two hits, while reliever Kent Denbow got the win.

J.C. Kerns and Lee Kerns each had two hits for Armoloy (2-1).

Dave Sugar 5, Piqua 0

Jake Thomas pitched a five-hit shutout, walking one and striking out six to lead Dave Sugar (2-1).

Mike Frasso and Todd Finn each had two hits in the victory.

Cameron Gamble had two hits for Piqua (1-2).

Stark Terriors 14, Simon Roofing 4

Dan Henderson, Ben Puterbaugh, Joe Dubina and Joe Balgeweicz each had two hits to lead Stark (3-0), which scored 12 runs in the first two innings.

Rich Tisone and Anthony Roberts each had two hits for Simon (2-1).

Late Sunday
Rondinelli 12, PB Baseball 5

STRUTHERS — Jim Kinnick pitched seven innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs to lead Rondinelli on Sunday.

The Class B League’s ERA leader walked seven and struck out 11 in the win. Rondinelli erupted in the top of the third for a lead 6-3 lead. PB Baseball’s short-lived attempt to comeback ended with a strikeout in the fourth. Andy Dobson had four hits, while Chuck Olesky and Frank Rosile had three apiece for Rondinelli.

Kyle Strom had two hits for PB Baseball.

R&J Trucking 8, Troy Post 43 7

After falling behind, 7-0, after two innings, R&J won with the help of relievers Pat Mulligan and Jarryd Summers.

Mulligan held Troy (1-1) scoreless after relieving Lou Coppola. Mulligan went 41⁄3 and allowed one hit and five walks.

Summers appeared in the seventh to get his second win in as many games.

Matt Pitzullo had a double and triple, while Ed Rohan, Xavier Godoy and Joey Wielbruda added a pair of hits for R&J. For Troy, Tyler Stephenson, David Moss and Ryan Yingst had two hits.
