Man, woman report being shot on Market


YOUNGSTOWN — The 2800 block of Market Street was the scene of two shootings early Sunday.

Kristin Angelo, 19, of Park Avenue, Hubbard, told police she was walking in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 2800 block of Market Street at 2:08 a.m. when she heard gunfire and felt something strike her chest.

An officer observed a small cut to her chest, where she had been grazed by a bullet. The victim refused treatment.

An officer on routine patrol at 3:21 a.m. near the Mahoning County Annex parking lot heard three shots fired and drove to the driveway, where he saw several people running in the area. The officer was flagged down and told about a victim in the 2800 block of Market.

There the police found Richard Sly, 31, of Clearmount Drive, who was sitting in the passenger side of a car and had been shot in the foot. Sly told police he was walking south on Market Street toward his car when he was shot by an unknown person who came from an unknown direction.

He told police that the gunman was wearing a white jersey-type shirt, dark pants and ball cap. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he is in stable condition. Police found three .40-caliber shell casings in the area.
