PITTSBURGH — A federal judge has sentenced a former Sharpsville, Pa., man to 97 months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, after he pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography.
U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence Monday on Kenneth Patrick Jeffries II, 23, formerly of East Shenango Street, who had entered his guilty plea April 2.
Jeffries, who could have been sent to prison for up to 20 years, was charged after losing his cellular phone at the Mahoning Valley Rib Burnoff in Niles in July 2006, according to court papers. People who found the phone were trying to locate its owner, found the pornographic images on it and turned it over to police.
Jeffries told authorities some of the photographs were downloaded from his computer and admitted taking others of a young boy in Cleveland.
Assistant U.S. Atty. Stephen R. Kaufman said Jeffries received child pornography images via the Internet on his computer in July 2006.
Jeffries also used his cell phone to take sexually explicit photos of himself and a sleeping 9-year-old boy, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
The case was investigated by the FBI, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and Niles, Sharpsville and Pennsylvania State Police.
