Waterline to be shut off, boil notice in effect

Wednesday, July 4, 2007

AUSTINTOWN — A waterline on Norquest Boulevard between state Route 46 and Ohltown Road will be shut off at 7:30 a.m. Thursday as part of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Route 46 widening project.

Marucci & Gaffney Excavating will be relocating the current waterline on Norquest because of a conflict with a new storm sewer catch basin.

To accomplish this operation, a section of the current water main on Norquest will be taken out of service. The waterline will be restored at approximately 3 p.m.

The following customers will be affected: Norquest Blvd. 5521, 5525, 5529, 5530 and 5552; and Ohltown Road 125.

After the water service has been restored, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency recommends that residents take precautions and boil the tap water that they use for cooking and drinking.

The Youngstown Water Department will notify residents as soon as possible when the water has been tested and is considered safe.

The OEPA now requires that all cities follow this procedure for all depressurization of drinking waterlines.

Any questions should be directed to the water department’s engineering office at (330) 742-8765.
