Woman is accused of stalking firefighter

CAMPBELL — A local woman broke into the fire department and used an emergency hot line in an attempt to contact the firefighter she is accused of stalking, according to police reports.

Police arrested Marina Tatarciuc, 46, of Van Buren Street, on Sunday on multiple counts, including two felonies.

She is charged with breaking and entering by stealth, disrupting public services, menacing by stalking and criminal trespassing.

She is being held without bond until her arraignment at 9 a.m. today, according to police reports.

Tatarciuc fled firefighters on foot Saturday after she was observed hiding between an engine and ladder in a restricted area of the fire department, police reports said.

Past problems

Mayor John Dill said Tatarciuc has been causing problems at the fire department for about three months. During that time, she was observed trespassing on department grounds on more than one occasion, he said.

Tatarciuc was told numerous times not to use the city’s emergency hot line to call the city employee, according to police reports.

The city’s law director had forbidden her from fire department grounds and from contact with the firefighter, reports said.

Tatarciuc managed to eluded police Saturday. The next day, however, she was again reported to be stalking the firefighter at Campbell’s City Fest. Police found her within 20 feet of the firefighter. She was taken into custody without incident, reports said.

Detective Sgt. Gus Nicolaou said the firefighter, who is married, was never involved in a romantic relationship with Tatarciuc. He refused to comment further.
