YOUNGSTOWN — A city man has been charged with domestic violence and assault after police say he beat up a neighbor and assaulted his live-in girlfriend.
According to police reports, Randy Williams, 22, of 109 S. Portland Ave., and another man were driving down South Portland at 2:30 a.m. Sunday and nearly struck a man and woman standing by a car. Williams, reports said, continued on to his home and argued with his girlfriend before driving back in the direction of the couple.
The man yelled at Williams about nearly striking him with the car, then Williams and his companion reportedly got out of the car and beat the man. When the man’s girlfriend tried to help, she was hit in the head also, reports said.
Police reports say officers found Williams a short time later in his home, standing over his bloodied girlfriend, who had a gash in her head.
The girlfriend told officers that she was all right and Williams had done nothing to her, but officers, based on screams heard coming from the house before they entered, charged Williams with domestic violence. He was charged with assault in connection with the beating of the couple.
Williams was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center to be treated for a bruise. A hold for jail was placed on Williams at the hospital.
