Crew 1, Red Bulls 0

COLUMBUS — Kei Kamara scored his second goal of the season, going above a New York defender to head home a crossing pass from second-half substitute Andy Herron in the 69th minute. Crew coach Sigi Schmid selected Herron off the bench to replace starter Jacob Thomas just two minutes before Herron supplied Kamara with the game-winning assist. The victory gave Columbus (4-4-6) its third straight win and a four-game unbeaten streak. The Red Bulls fell to 6-4-3 and have one win in their past five games. New York’s best scoring opportunity of the first half came in the 38th minute when midfielder Dave van den Bergh hit the side netting of the goal from just outside the 6-yard box.

FC Dallas 0, Dynamo 0

FRISCO, Texas — Emergency starter Zach Wells made three saves for Houston. Pat Onstad, the MLS leader in goals-against average, twisted his back during warmups. Onstad was to be further evaluated when the team returned to Houston. Wells made leaping two-handed saves on shots by Dominic Oduro and Carlos Ruiz in the 14th and 15th minutes. Houston (7-5-2) has now gone 335 minutes without surrendering a goal and is 5-0-1 in its last six games. Dynamo midfielder Dwayne DeRosario almost scored in the 85th minute when he fired an open shot from about 15 yards away, but Dallas goalkeeper Dario Sala came out of the box to deflect the attempt. Sala also finished the game with three saves.
