Wednesday's Best Bets on TV

"What Remains: The Life and Work of Sally Mann" (7 p.m., Cinemax): This film takes an intimate journey into the world of one of America's most respected and controversial photographers. The film follows Mann as she embarks on a provocative new photo series that explores the subject of death and inevitable decay.
"America's Ballroom Challenge" (Wednesday, 8 p.m., PBS): Top ballroom dancers compete across dance styles in the five-episode second season.
"The Supreme Court" (9 p.m., PBS): We know what you're thinking: A four-part documentary series on the highest court in the land has got to be a real snoozer. But this ambitious production is the first major television series to trace the history and influence of the Court, and it does so with deft and engaging style. And what an intriguing subject. Over the years, nine black-robed justices have had an incredible amount to say about how we lead our everyday lives. Yet, the Supreme Court, shrouded as it is in mystery, remains our least understood branch of government. The series opens with "One Nation Under Law," a segment that examines the creation of the Court and follows it through the brink of the Civil War, focusing particularly on the fourth chief justice of the Supreme Court, John Marshall, and to his successor, Roger Taney. On Feb. 7, the concluding two hours follow the court up through the civil-rights era and measure the towering influence of the court under Chief Justice William Rehnquist.
"Top Design" (11 p.m., Bravo): This new reality series tries to bring the successful "Project Runway" formula to the world of home interior decorating. Todd Oldham hosts.
