SCHOOL'S OUT
The Vindicator/William D. Lewis
Old East High
coming down
brick by brick
The former home of the Golden Bears, Youngstown's East High School, is coming down. The razing of the old building, at 1544 E. High Ave., which most recently served as a middle school, is under way, with David Sugar Excavating of New Middletown doing the work. The middle school pupils were sent to the new P. Ross Berry Middle School on Bryn Mawr Avenue. A new East High School is being built behind the old East at a cost of around 30 million and is set to open this fall.
