Separation deal ends sex case for ex-officer

Ken Kasiewicz will receive360 hours of paid leave and he cannot reapply for township employment.
BOARDMAN -- Ken Kasiewicz, a former township police officer, will get 360 hours of paid leave to seek treatment for a medical condition.
Kasiewicz, 28, who has been with the township for four years, signed a separation agreement with the township late Thursday.
Kasiewicz and Stephen Kendall, another former officer, were placed on paid administrative leave earlier this month. A mental health counselor had reported to township Administrator Jason Loree that a 17-year-old girl whom she was counseling told her that a township officer paid her for sex.
Kendall resigned earlier this week and pleaded guilty to a charge of gross sexual imposition, a felony. He is to be sentenced in March.
Kasiewicz, the township and their legal representatives reached the separation agreement.
The 360 hours represents the sick and vacation leaves and compensatory time that Kasiewicz would be entitled to if he resigned immediately plus four hours of paid leave.
Including that 360 hours, Kasiewicz's resignation is effective 45 working days from the agreement's approval, which occurred Thursday.
Under the agreement, Kasiewicz agrees to not reapply for township employment.
