Race relations to be focus of town hall forum

WARREN -- A town hall forum discussing race relations in Trumbull County will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at W.D. Packard Music Hall on Mahoning Avenue Northwest.
The forum will also feature the premiere of "Invisible Struggles," a film about racism made by Kent State University Trumbull Campus students.
Journalism professor Gene Shelton will moderate the forum, which will include a screening of the documentary, a question-and-answer session with the filmmakers, and a panel discussion.
Participants on the panel include Warren Mayor Michael J. O'Brien; Robert Faulkner Sr., longtime civil rights activist and Warren Board of Education member; and Frederick Harris, former Warren public safety director.
The documentary evolved from a class on Civil Rights in America in the 1950s and 1960s. Students nterviewed black residents from the Warren area who were civil rights activists or who witnessed or experienced racial segregation.
The first hour of the forum will be taped for broadcast by PBS 45 & amp; 49 and will air with "Invisible Struggles" at 9 p.m. Feb. 5, at 12:30 a.m. Feb. 6, and at 2 p.m. Feb. 11.
The forum is free and open to the public.
