Other Black History Month events as submitted to The Vindicator:
Kent: Kent State Student Center, Libraries and Media Services will present its annual Black History Month program at 4 p.m. Feb. 8 in Room 319 of the Kent State University Student Center on the main campus. The speaker will be Lee H. Walker, founder and president of the New Coalition for Economic and Social Change. Walker also is a senior fellow at the Heartland Institute of Chicago and he serves on the editorial board and as a columnist for the Chicago Defender, the only black daily newspaper in the United States. Walker also has written for Crain's Chicago Business. His topic will be: "What is Conservative Multiculturalism?" The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Alliance: Mount Union College will host Saul Williams as its Black History Month keynote speaker at 10:35 a.m. Feb. 6 at 10:35 a.m. in the Dewald Chapel. The event is sponsored by the Black Student Union and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. Williams has inspired thousands of youth across the country through his spoken word/slam poetry. He has published three poetry collections and has made several appearances on popular television shows. On Feb. 8, the Black Student Union will host a Soul Food Dinner and Fashion Show at 6 p.m. in the Hoover-Price Campus Center Cafeteria. Tickets for this event are 8 for adults, 6 for students and 4 for children. Children 3 and under are admitted free. The annual Black Student Union production will be Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Presser Recital Hall. For more information on the events, call (330) 823-7288.
