MERCER COUNTY Sentenced in court



The following people were sentenced in Mercer County Common Pleas Court last week:
Kenneth Goodspeed, 18, of South Ridge Road, Greenville, was sentenced to one to two years in the Mercer County Jail followed by five years' probation for felony robbery and misdemeanor simple assault. On July 29, 2006, Goodspeed and another man jumped a 15-year-old boy at Riverside Park in Greenville, struck him and stole his wallet, which contained 30. The boy needed treatment at a hospital for his injuries. Goodspeed also punched and kicked a man in the face on North Mercer and Eagle Streets, Greenville, on July 30. That victim also needed hospital treatment for his injuries.
Corey Sternthal, 19, of Shenango Park Road, Transfer, was placed on two years' probation and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor, for possessing an all-terrain vehicle Aug. 13, 2005, which belonged to Campbell-Peterson Trail and Turf, 220 Hadley Road, Hempfield Township.
Thomas Block, 38, of West South Street, Mercer, was placed on two years' probation and ordered to make restitution for theft by deception, a misdemeanor. While Block was employed at Advance Auto Parts, 1307 W. Main St., Grove City, he created six false transactions for the return of a total 685 worth of merchandise, then took that amount of cash from the cash register.
Brent Sumner, 28, of Russell Street, Sharon, was sentenced to three to 23 months in the county jail followed by two years' probation for felony burglary. He entered a building on Smith Avenue in Sharon on July 23, 2006, with the intent to commit a crime.
