Police task force seizes 120 marijuana plants

LEAVITTSBURG - Police have confiscated 120 marijuana plants from a house at 964 N. Leavitt Road during a raid by a regional police task force.
Detective Jeff Orr, coordinator of the Trumbull, Ashtabula, Geauga Drug Task Force, said the six-month investigation uncovered the plants growing in a hidden room off the master bedroom.
Jack C. Dishong, 49, who rents the house, was charged with the illegal manufacturing of drugs.
He posted a 25,000 personal bond set Thursday by Warren Municipal Judge Terry Ivanchak. He will next appear Feb. 27.
Orr said a complicated mechanism similar to a small ferris wheel was used to rotate younger plants around a light with an automatic watering system. Once the plants got larger, they were moved into containers.
Some of the plants had tags reading "AK 47" and others that read "Skunk" that indicate type of seeds being used.
Authorities also confiscated 28 plants at a trailer Dishong has on Niles Avenue in Paris Township in Portage County.
