Greenhouse is declared a nuisance

Friday, January 26, 2007

BOARDMAN -- Less than a month after Mahoning County's chief building official declared a closed Southern Boulevard greenhouse unsafe, the township took additional action regarding the property.
At a meeting Thursday, trustees declared the former Inglis Greenhouse a public nuisance, directing its owners to remove pesticides at the site within seven days.
The declaration came at the recommendation of Darren Crivelli, zoning inspector, who worked with the township's fire prevention office.
In late December, Jeffrey Uroseva, the county's building official, said the former greenhouse was unsafe, citing broken windows, and said the building was unsecured. The county official gave the owners 30 days to fix the building code violations.
Trustees last year declared the property a nuisance because of wooden pallets left there. The owners didn't clean the property up in the specified time, so the township hired a contractor for 5,300 to do the work.
The 5,300 was placed as a lien against the greenhouse property.
