'Person of interest' sought in Auto Zone killing

YOUNGSTOWN — A person of interest is being sought and a $25,000 reward is being offered to help solve the shooting death of Auto Zone store clerk Edward Agee who was killed during a robbery attempt at the McCartney Road business at 8:50 p.m. May 2, 2006.

Anyone with information about the crime or the whereabouts of Reginald K. Everson, 20, last known to live on Youngstown’s South Side, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (330) 746-CLUE. Callers remain anonymous. Everson, the person of interest, has been sought by detectives for months, said Capt. Kenneth Centorame, chief of detectives. It’s possible Everson may have been one of the gunmen, Centorame said.

The $25,000 reward was announced today during a press conference at the store. Agee, 52, of Star Street was found lying in front of a sales counter after three gunmen wearing masks entered the store. Auto Zone had been offering a $10,000 reward to help solve the case but believes the increase may bring closure, said Bill Fletcher, Auto Zone district manager.
