Industrial park pays off debt to New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The Lawrence County Economic Development Corp. has paid off its debt to the city.

Tuesday, Robert DelSignore, the corporation's president, presented a $1,128,204 check to city officials. The payment represents the balance of a $1.5 million debt owed to the city for sewer work done in 2003 at Millennium Park, a 1,200-acre industrial park in Neshannock Township near Pa. Route 60.

Late last year, the city threatened to sue the corporation for reimbursement, which corporation officials said was delayed only because Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Capital Assistance Program was slow releasing the funds.
