Party leads to multiple charges

Police were tipped off about a party with underage drinking.
NEWTON FALLS -- Two men face a number of charges after a weekend party at an East River Road home in Newton Township.
Timothy Marcum, 52, who lives at the house at 2596 East River Road, faces 12 counts of possession of drug abuse paraphernalia and eight counts of allowing underage drinking.
He will be arraigned Thursday in Newton Falls Municipal Court.
Gary Fleming, 19, of Newton Falls, is charged with drug trafficking and underage consumption of alcohol. He is free on a 5,000 surety bond and will next appear Feb. 15.
"Evidently, they were just partying. They didn't want to talk too much," Capt. Earl Quinn of the Newton Township Police Department said Monday.
Seven other adults were issued citations for underage drinking or possession of drug paraphernalia. Two juveniles were cited into Trumbull County Juvenile Court.
Tipped off
Quinn said police received anonymous tips early Saturday. The tipsters told police of a party in the 2500 block of East River Road at which there was drug activity and underage drinking.
Quinn said that with the help of Newton Falls and Braceville police, township police converged on the residence.
While officers were at the front and back of the house attempting to get an answer at the door, officers saw Fleming jump out of a window from the detached garage.
At the same time, the garage door was opened and a juvenile fled from the garage into a wooded area behind the garage, the captain said.
Newton Falls City Patrol Officer Dan Piltz and Braceville Police Sgt. Chuck Mohan gave chase.
With the help of Quinn's K-9 dog Czar, the two were captured. Fleming was treated for cuts sustained while going out the window.
