Knowing money: In December, the Ohio Legislature mandated that beginning in 2010, Ohio high-school students must complete instruction in personal finance.
Why in school? Experts say many parents aren't equipped to teach their kids how to manage money, and teachers can be trained to pass on the information someone needs when starting out at work or in college.
Who benefits? Besides the kids, banks, credit-card companies and government agencies collect more regular mortgage payments, bills and property taxes.
