Youngstown baby listed as 'critical'

YOUNGSTOWN — The condition of Kha-Niyah Williams, the 7-month-old baby found unresponsive and not breathing after being left unattended in a bathtub, moved from serious to critical Sunday.

Youngstown police said there was no new information in the case.

According to police, the baby’s mother, Shareitta Buffington, 20, said she put the baby and a 2-year-old in the bathtub Friday and left to find some soap. When she returned, the infant was face down in the water. Others in the house started cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The infant was taken to Beeghly Medical Center, then flown to Akron Children’s Hospital.
