Western Reserve gets 10th with win over Wellsville



The Blue Devils controlled the boards getting 22 offensive rebounds.
BERLIN CENTER -- Senior guard John Porterfield had 11 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for Western Reserve in its 53-37 win over Wellsville Friday night in Inter-Tri County League Tier Two action.
Despite missing a lot of "bunnies," Reserve (10-1, 5-1) was able to retrieve the misses to grab 22 offensive rebounds. The Blue Devils had 43 rebounds total.
Dave Drevna, Reserve's high scorer with a 13-point average, tallied six.
Reserve, whose loss was to McDonald earlier this month, entertains Lowellville on Tuesday. The Blue Devils already beat Lowellville once, by 11 points.
Zane Carter had 13 points for Wellsville, which grabbed 23 rebounds.
East Palestine 62, Mineral Ridge 48
EAST PALESTINE -- Dan Honolt scored 25 points to lead the Bulldogs (8-2, 6-1 ITCL Tier One). J.C. Bollinger netted 10 points for the winners while Nick DiCello scored eight points, pulled down six rebounds and made six assist.
For the Rams (3-8, 1-6 ITCL), T,J. Bevilacqua scored 16 points, Cody Graham had 12 and Nick Miele 11.
Crestview 58, South Range 55
COLUMBIANA -- Tony Amabile's 23 points helped the Rebels to their third ITCL Tier One victory.
Jakob Leon scored 13 points including three 3-pointers as the Rebels (3-9, 3-4 ITCL Tier One) outscored the Raiders 22-11 in the final quarter. Andrew Kestner scored 12 points.
For South Range (5-8), David Rach scored 16 points and David Maxwell 14.
Springfield 70, Lisbon 30
LISBON -- Dane Dobson scored 20 points, Nate Schuler had 14, Todd Kibby scored 11 and Bobby Rogers added 11 for the Tigers, who held a 42-17 halftime lead in the ITCL Tier One game.
Arlan Bailey led Lisbon with 10 points.
McDonald 64, Jackson-Milton 37
NORTH JACKSON -- Bradley Hinton scored 18 points and Steven Hughes added 13 more for the Blue Devils.
A 16-point second quarter allowed McDonald to establish a 26-15 lead at the break.
Nik Kaley scored nine points for Jackson-Milton.
Southern 54, Lowellville 51
LOWELLVILLE -- The Indians (8-4) took a 22-11 lead in the first quarter, held a 28-24 margin at intermission and held on for the Tier Two victory.
Ethan Blatch, who connected on five three-point goals, paced the Indians with 22 points. Chris Householder chipped in with 18 and Daren Mills finished with 10.
Lowellville (3-8, 1-6) was led by Mario Nero with 18 points. Jeremy Gruber pulled down 17 rebounds and John Wiley had three steals and three assists.
Leetonia 49, Sebring 47
LEETONIA -- It was the first time that the Bears (9-3, 4-3 Tier Two) had beaten the Trojans (7-5, 3-4) since 1998.
The Bears trailed at halftime 24-22, but outscored the Trojans 9-8 in the third period and 18-15 in the final quarter.
Josh Selway, who led the Bears with 13 points, had back-to-back steals in the fourth quarter and made a basket, then two free throws to put Leetonia ahead 43-41.
Corey Rauschenbauch chipped in the 10 points. Aaron Valentine pulled down nine rebounds.
Jesse James and Zach Tieche sparked the Trojans with 18 and 14 points respectively.
