Struthers school district sets open enrollment

STRUTHERS -- The Struthers City School District will again have open enrollment for the 2007-08 school year.
Any child living in Ohio is eligible except students who would be attending the Mahoning County Career & amp; Technical Center in Canfield for the first time.
Applications must be picked up in person at the board of education office, 99 Euclid Ave., between Feb. 26 and March 2. No applications will be mailed. No completed applications will be accepted Feb. 26.
To be considered for open enrollment at Struthers, completed applications must be returned in person to the board of education office beginning Feb. 27. No applications will be accepted after 3 p.m. March 16.
One application must be completed for each pupil. Incomplete applications won't be considered, nor will applications that are mailed to the office.
Applicants will receive written notice of the enrollment decision by the first full week of April. No information will be given over the telephone.
Enrollment will be on a limited basis.
Struthers opted into the state's open-enrollment program three years ago and has been accepting about 100 pupils each year.
State subsidies follow the pupils, giving Struthers about 500,000 a year in additional subsidy revenue.
