KINDERGARTEN
Registration
Schools are beginning to register children for kindergarten for the 2007-08 school year. In most cases, children must be 5 years old by Sept. 30 and have proof of proper immunizations, their birth certificate, a Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Proof of legal custody also may be required. Any additional requirements are listed with each school.
Boardman: Registration day for 2007-08 kindergarten and all new students in the district will be from 9-11 a.m., 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Jan. 30 in each of the four elementary school offices. Parents need not bring their children to registration. The custodial parent or guardian must be a resident of the Boardman school district and kindergarten children must be age 5 by Aug. 1. Two proofs of residency will be required and a registration form must be completed. There will be a 25 fee. The schools are: Market Street School, 5555 Market St.; Robinwood Lane School, 835 Indianola Road; Stadium Drive School, 111 Stadium Drive; and West Boulevard School, 6125 West Blvd.
The Boardman schools' special education department is planning for the assessment and evaluation of preschoolers with disabilities. Parents of children who have disabilities should send a referral letter to the special education office at 7410 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512, giving the child's name, their name, address, telephone number, child's date of birth and known or suspected disabilities.

To schedule a screening appointment on those two days, call the school at (724) 667-7749.
