Serrano indicted in death of brother



A city man was indicted in the assault of a deputy sheriff.
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a Guss Street man in the Oct. 11 fiery car crash that killed his brother.
Johnny Serrano, 25, was indicted Thursday on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide.
His brother, Edward, 17, a junior at The Rayen School, died in the Poland Avenue crash. Serrano lost control of the vehicle the evening of Oct. 11 and struck a pole near Youngstown Tool & amp; Die Co. The car then burst into flames.
Authorities have said the elder Serrano's blood-alcohol content was nearly double the legal limit of 0.08 at the time of the crash.
The grand jury also indicted Andre Maxwell, 23, of Sunshine Avenue, on an assault charge. He is accused of assaulting a Mahoning County deputy sheriff on Jan. 10 at the county jail where Maxwell is an inmate.

Celeste N. Rodgers, 35, Douglas Street Northwest, Warren, forgery.
James Overly III, 41, of West Maryland Avenue, Sebring, assault and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer.
Nicole L. Corbett, 28, of East Jackson Street, Lowellville, burglary and three counts of receiving stolen property.
Gary W. Schrom, 37, of Narcissa Street, Struthers, burglary and three counts of receiving stolen property.
Robert M. Sudimak, 39, of South Main Street, Austintown, vandalism and two counts of breaking and entering.
Richard Martin Jr., 43, of Crofton Street, New Castle, receiving stolen property.
Dennis Iris Manning, 45, of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, theft.

The grand jury also handed up a secret indictment against a man on six counts of trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, two counts of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, and illegal possession of a weapon with forfeiture specifications.
