Airstream club to meet
WARREN -- Mahoning Valley Ohio Unit of WBCCCI, International Airstream Traveling Club, will meet Saturday at China Gardens Buffet, Elm Road.
Hosts will be Bill and Shirley Kitelinger of Windham.
Anyone who owns an Airstream travel trailer, motorhome or fifth wheel is welcome.

Baby-sitter training
BOARDMAN -- Mahoning Chapter American Red Cross will provide a course in baby-sitter training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Boardman Township Park. The seven-hour course is open to boys and girls who are pre-teens and teenagers and will teach skills in infant and child care, safety and safe play, leadership, responsibility and professionalism, first-aid training and life-saving techniques. Participants should take a lunch.
Each person completing the course will receive a form letter identifying them as specially trained and Red Cross certified; a certified Red Cross baby-sitter pen, pocket planner, and T-shirt; a certificate for framing; and business cards.
Set for dinner
MINERAL RIDGE -- St. Mary Church, 3504 state Route 46, will serve spaghetti dinners from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The cost is 6 for adults and 4 for children 4 to 12. For carryouts, call (330) 652-8319.
Local Project Runway
AUSTINTOWN -- Casal Aveda Institute, 7000 Mahoning Ave., will be the setting as Casal's d & eacute; Spa and Salon presents its version of the Project Runway show at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 as a benefit for Northeast Ohio Adoption Services.
A mystery item will have to be incorporated into final designs as fifteen teams with one model each compete for an all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas. Teams will be judged on their use of the item, their theme and overall runway presentation.
Admission to the show is 5, and tickets for a Chinese auction will be two for 1.
Reverse raffle
AUSTINTOWN -- A reverse raffle will be held by Austintown Rotary Club on March 3 at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road, as a benefit for the Celebration Grove Phase II Project and to provide scholarships to seniors at Austintown Fitch High School.

Historical society
CANFIELD -- Canfield Historical Society is announcing that The Bond House, 44 W. Main St., will now be open for visitors on Fridays.
The Board of Trustees has employed Joan Reedy Lawson as a consultant to evaluate historical materials to be inventoried and preserved, and named Kim Newton, society member, to help coordinate the materials.
The society was organized in the 1970s to research the history of Canfield and maintain archival materials. It owns the Bond House and the Mahoning Dispatch. Both properties are maintained through fundraisers and gifts from local businesses and foundations. Its current project is the researching the history of buildings on the Village Green, where historical markers will eventually be installed.
Book hailed as lifesaver
"The One Stop Wedding Kit," a book written by Jessica Howe and published by Love and Cherish, has been hailed by The New York Times as a wedding-day lifesaver for brides.
The book provides brides with a complete, user-friendly guide to planning everything from a grand society affair to an intimate family gathering. It advises how to arrange every detail in good time, save money and to have fun doing it. Checklists, illustrations, timelines and glossaries simplify the experience. The book will be in stores on Valentine's Day.
Society officers return
SALEM -- Salem Historical Society has announced that David J. Shivers will serve a second term as president.
Others returning to their positions are Laurie Thomas, secretary; Dixie Gordon, corresponding secretary; Janice Lesher, curator; and David Stratton, director.
Newly appointed officers include Judi Allio, vice president, and trustees Alma Apicella, Cristina Garlough, Joan Lora and Virginia Wilms.
The society will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this summer and has set a goal of 60 new members to commemorate the milestone. Membership is open to any interested person and includes the receipt of the quarterly newsletter. For further information, contact the society at (330) 337-8514.
