Badgers win 14th straight

MADISON, Wis. -- Michael Flowers scored 15 points to lead No. 2 Wisconsin to its 14th consecutive victory, 69-64 over Purdue on Wednesday night.
The Badgers (18-1, 4-0 Big Ten), who are enjoying the highest ranking in school history, led by 10 points midway through the second half.
Keaton Grant's fast break layup with 39 seconds left brought the Boilermakers (13-6, 2-3) within 67-62. Kammron Taylor made one of two free throws for Wisconsin with 36 seconds left. Purdue missed and rebounded two 3-point attempts, finally settling for a putback by Carl Landry that made it 68-64 with 4.3 seconds left.
Gordon Watt had 18 points for Purdue, which hasn't won on the road in nearly three years.
The Badgers' winning streak is tied with New Mexico State for longest in the nation.
No. 4 North Carolina 77,No. 19 Clemson 55
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Brandan Wright had 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting and North Carolina recovered from the loss that knocked it from No. 1 with its sixth straight victory over Clemson.
Wright, the Atlantic Coast Conference leader in field goal percentage, was 1-for-8 in Saturday's 94-88 loss to Virginia Tech. This time, the 6-foot-9 freshman hit his first seven shots to lead the Tar Heels (16-2, 3-1).
Less than a week ago, Clemson (17-2, 3-2) had been 17-0 and the nation's only Division I unbeaten. The perfect record ended last Saturday with a 92-87 loss at Maryland.
K.C. Rivers. Clemson's leading scorer, was held to four points, nearly 12 below his average. James Mays and Cliff Hammonds both had 15 points for the Tigers, who went 5-of-19 from the free throw line.
Vanderbilt 94, No. 10 Alabama 73
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Shan Foster scored 27 points and Vanderbilt had its best shooting game this season.
The Commodores (12-6, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) hit a season-high 15 3-pointers in 28 attempts and shot 58 percent overall in pulling off their second home upset of a ranked team in eight days. They beat then-No. 16 Tennessee 82-81 on Jan. 10.
Alabama (14-3, 1-2) lost its ninth straight in Nashville. Alabama's other conference loss this season was 88-61 at Arkansas.
Mykal Riley led Alabama with 21 points.
No. 16 LSU 62, Mississippi 55
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Tasmin Mitchell and Terry Martin combined for 22 second-half points to lead LSU.
Mitchell scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half, while Martin had eight of his 15 after the break for the Tigers (13-4, 2-1 Southeastern Conference).
Martin knocked down his fourth 3-pointer of the game to give LSU a 50-46 lead with 4:44 remaining. On the Tigers' next possession, Mitchell hit a 3 that put them ahead 53-46. Mississippi didn't get closer than five points the rest of the game.
Clarence Sanders paced the Rebels (12-6, 1-3) with 12 points.

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Freshman Scottie Reynolds scored 27 points, Curtis Sumpter had 21 and Dante Cunningham added 19 to lead Villanova.
Auburn 83, No. 22 Tennessee 80
AUBURN, Ala. -- Quan Prowell made four free throws in the final 22 seconds and Auburn rallied from a 14-point deficit over the final 10 minutes to hand the Volunteers their third consecutive loss.
Florida St. 82,No. 23 Virginia Tech 73
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Al Thornton scored all of his 27 points in the second half and Florida State snapped a three-game losing streak by handing the Hokies' first Atlantic Coast Conference loss of the season.
