Tuesday, January 2, 2007

BOARDMAN — Atty. Gen.-elect Marc Dann announced today the appointment of Youngstown Detective Sgt. Rick Alli as his chief of law enforcement operations. Alli, a 31-year-veteran of the Youngstown Police Department, is expected to begin his new job sometime later this month.

Alli will oversee the law enforcement functions performed by the office; act as the attorney general’s liaison to local police departments, sheriff’s offices, and other first reponders; and serve as Dann’s primary adviser and counselor on law enforcement issues.

Dann considers the job a cabinet-level post.

Dann also announced that Ed Simpson, former managing editor of the Tribune-Chronicle, Warren, will serve as his chief of staff. Simpson recently resigned as editor of the Joplin Globe, a newspaper in Missouri. He served as the Tribune’s managing editor from 1991-1998 before leaving to go to Joplin.
