Police charge woman with stealing purses

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

WARREN – Police are warning women not to leave their purses in shopping buggies because thieves are targeting them.

“I can’t stress enough: Do not walk away from your buggy with your purse in it,” Detective Jeffrey Hoolihan said Wednesday.

Hoolihan’s caution came after charging Brandy L. Renicker, 20, of Devon Drive, Howland, with three counts of felony theft.

Renicker was arraigned Wednesday before Judge Thomas Gysegem, who set a preliminary hearing for 10:15 a.m. today3/1 and bond at $2,500 surety. She will also have a hearing today on an unrelated charge of receiving stolen property.

She is accused of taking three purses from buggies in grocery stores.
