The Thermals will perform in the area

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

Successfully mixing politics and punk rock for the past few years, The Thermals’ career is heating up with its 2006 album “The Body, The Blood, The Machine.”

While critical acclaim is nothing new to the iconoclastic Portland-based act, a sense of momentum and a growing fan base does have The Thermals main member Hutch Harris (bass, guitar and vocals) smiling these days.

Yeah, a lot of people are just acting like the album just came out because at the end of the year we had so many good reviews and year-end top lists,” said Harris, calling from Bellingham, Wash. “It kind of got this rebirth feel.”

The Thermals with The Big Sleep and The Very Knees will perform at 9 p.m. Thursday at Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland.
