Kweller steadily expands his fan base

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

Unanswered prayers are something solo artist Ben Kweller knows all about.

As a precocious teenager during the mid-’90s, the California-born, Texas-raised singer-guitarist found post-grunge fame in the band Radish, a Silverchair-like outfit that echoed the decade’s earlier sounds. Even though the group released one album and toured extensively, including a European run and appearances on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” and “Late Show With David Letterman,” the band eventually disbanded without fanfare.

In hindsight, Kweller admits the lack of fame couldn’t have worked out better.

Ben Kweller opens for Gomez at 7 p.m. Saturday at House of Blues in Cleveland.
