Geneva reaches women's final



BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva reached the women's final of the American Mideast Conference basketball tournament for the first time with a 56-34 victory over Tiffin Saturday night.
The Golden Tornades (23-4) will play host to Shawnee State Tuesday night in the title game at 7:30. The winner earns the league's automatic bid to the NAIA Division II national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, starting March 8.
Jackie Anthony and Renee Rawding each scored 14 points for Geneva, which jumped out to a 14-5 lead eight minutes into the game and never looked back.
Men
NORTH CANTON -- Walsh advanced to the men's final of the AMC tournament with a 92-72 win over Roberts Wesleyan.
The Cavaliers (26-5), ranked No. 7 in NAIA, will play host to Notre Dame (Ohio) Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Eder Araujo scored 19 points and had nine rebounds for Walsh, which is already assured of an at-large berth to the national tournament. Corey Jones added 16 points and Derek Chappell had 15. Brandon Weems had 13 assists and is eight shy of tying Bob Bolden's school record of 222.
Alfonso Evans of Roberts Wesleyan led all scorers with 31 points.
Wooster 86, Ohio Wesleyan 51
WOOSTER -- Top-seeded Wooster (25-3) ran out to a 27-8 lead less than 10 minutes into the NCAC tournament championship game.
Wooster's James Cooper led all scorers with 26 points and was named Tournament MVP. Tom Port added 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Scots won their 10th conference tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament.
Ohio Wesleyan (18-10) was led by Jesse Jean with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Dustin Rudegeair with 10 points.
