Theme, events scheduled for World Day of Prayer



This year's program was written by women of faith from Paraguay.
YOUNGSTOWN -- "United Under God's Tent" is the theme of this year's observance of World Day of Prayer planned Friday. The program was written by the women of Paraguay and focuses on unity in diversity.
World Day of Prayer, sponsored by Church Women United, is an ecumenical movement of women of many faiths who come together to observe a common day of prayer. Throughout the day, women pray all over the world -- beginning with the first sunrise and ending with last sunset.
Observances will be held in the area. For information on individual observances, call the host church.
Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., Canfield, will have a program at 11 a.m. followed by lunch.
First Christian Church, 33 Arlington Ave., Niles, will begin with registration at 11 a.m. followed by lunch. The cost is 4 and reservations must be made by calling (330) 652-5839 by Monday. Women of First Presbyterian Church of Niles will present the program. A special collection will be taken for the Hattie Larlham Foundation.
Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner of Grant and Walnut streets, East Palestine, will have a worship service at 10:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon.
Park Vista, 1216 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, will have a worship service at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel. Refreshments will follow.
Vienna Presbyterian Church, 4295 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, will have a program at 11 a.m. with lunch following.
St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, will have its World Day of Prayer program Thursday.The program will be at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon.
A programs also will be at Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church, state Route 165, west of state Route 164 North Lima. Call those churches for details.
