SteelHounds finally beat RiverKings

Memphis had not lost a home game since December, an 11-game stretch.
MEMPHIS -- For the first time since opening weekend, the Youngstown SteelHounds have defeated the Memphis RiverKings.
After four straight losses to the RiverKings, the SteelHounds won in overtime, 5-4, on Friday at the DeSoto Civic Center.
Sixty-five seconds into overtime, Chris Richards scored on the power play from Matt Hanson.
The Kings struck first with a power-play goal by Phil Aucoin at 3:22 of the first period.
Youngstown quickly responded with two goals, one from Chris Shaffer and a power-play goal by Shaun Landolt to give the Hounds a lead after the first period.
The goal for Landolt extended his point streak to five games. Tab Lardner assisted to extend his point streak to seven games.
Staying close
Memphis did not go quietly though as it had an 11-game home winning streak to protect.
The RiverKings scored two unanswered goals, one shorthanded by Ryan Campbell and one even-strength goal by Tyler McGregor for a 3-2 lead.
But with 11 seconds remaining in the period, Richards scored his first of two power-play goals to tie the game at three.
It took just 27 seconds of the third period for Ryan Held to give Memphis a 4-3 lead.
SteelHounds captain Jeff Christian scored on the power play for a 4-4 tie.
The win gives the SteelHounds their best month in team history as they won their record seventh game for February in giving the Kings their first home loss since December 2006.
The SteelHounds are 2-0 on the current roadtrip to improve their record away from home to 13-9-4.
Tonight, Youngstown (25-17-9, 59 points) returns to Louisiana to play the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
Next week, the RiverKings will be at the Chevrolet Centre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for 7 p.m. games.
