OSU extension workshop offers topics addressing church boards

CORTLAND -- "Great Boards Don't Just Happen, They Are Formed" workshop is planned from 8:30 a.m. to noon March 9, 16 and 23 at the Agriculture and Family Center, 250 W. Main St., by Ohio State University Trumbull County Extension Office. The cost of the three-part series is 50 and includes program materials.
This session, geared to churches, is suited to pastors, board members and paid staff.
Topics will include roles of individual board members, responsibility of the paid executive and staff, fundraising and resource development, liabilities, bylaw reviews, minutes, legal information, resolving conflicts and consensus building.
Instructors will be Steve Hudkins, assistant professor of community development with the OSU Extension; Atty. Mike Rossi; Steve Alexander, executive director of Trumbull YMCA; Joe Konen, associate professor, OSU Extension; Gwen Logan, director of development with Trumbull County Chapter, American Red Cross; and Mike Wilson, executive director of Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District.
