Nero's shot wins it for Lowellville



The Rockets posted a 63-61 victory over East Palestine.
LOWELLVILLE -- Lowellville senior guard Mario Nero made a 15-foot jump shot at the buzzer as the Rockets rallied in the fourth quarter to beat East Palestine 63-61 in an Inter Tri-County League game on Friday.
The Rockets (8-12, 3-11) outscored the Bulldogs 17-10 in the fourth quarter.
Nero, who scored his 1,000th career point (1,010) hit on four 3-point baskets and sparked the Rockets with 27 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds, had four assists and two steals.
Jeremy Gruber, who fouled out early in the fourth quarter, chipped in with 16 points and he pulled down 16 rebounds and blocked five shots.
Dan Hanolt led the Bulldogs with 27 points. Travis Foreman added 12.
McDonald 76, Jackson-Milton 32
McDONALD -- Steven Hughes and Andy Timko each scored 18 points as McDonald outscored Jackson-Milton 25-5 in the second quarter to take control in an ITCL Tier Two game.
Mikey Thomas and Adam Streb each added 10 points.
Nick Kaley had eight points for Jackson-Milton.
Columbiana 55, Sebring 47
SEBRING -- Joe Blinsky scored 19 points and added three assists to lead Columbiana (11-9).
Joey Winters chipped in with eight points and 11 rebounds while Andrew Tirpak added six points and 10 rebounds to aid the Clippers, while Cory Guy delivered nine points.
Zach Tieche and Brett Mitzel each had 13 points for Sebring.
Canfield 63, Fitch 33
AUSTINTOWN -- Joe Carbon scored 18 points to lead Canfield, which took a 25-3 halftime lead.
Joe Burch added nine points for the Cardinals (18-2).
Jon Stockman scored 14 points for Fitch (2-18).
Struthers 67, Howland 61
HOWLAND -- Matt Kukura scored 27 points, R.J. Ragan had 16 and the Wildcats outscored Howland 30-22 in the fourth quarter to rally for a Metro Athletic Conference victory.
Nathan Cope scored 17 points and Jared Kirin added 15 for the Tigers.
West Branch 58, Salem 47
SALEM -- The Warriors held Salem to eight points in the first quarter and eight in the third in building a 41-26 lead.
Jake Woods paced the Warriors with 15 points. Kyle Rockwell added 13 and Vic Pappas had 10.
Austen Hutton and Zack O'Brien each scored 11 points to spark the Quakers.
Bloomfield 66, Lordstown 57
LORDSTOWN -- Bloomfield built a 46-29 lead by the end of the third quarter and held off a late rally by the Red Devils (12-8, 8-7) in the Northeastern Athletic Conference contest.
Ryan Robinson paced Bloomfield with 15 points. Steven Wheeler and Aaron Knight added 14 apiece. Scott Chaffee and Josh Lackey each scored 19 points for Lordstown.
