KINDERGARTEN Registration



Schools are registering children for kindergarten for the 2007-08 school year. In most cases, children must be 5 years old by Sept. 30 and have proof of proper immunizations, their birth certificate, a Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Proof of legal custody also may be required. Any additional requirements are listed with each school.
Howland: Next week is the final week for registration. Parents or guardians should go to the building of attendance (Glen or Springs) between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday to register a child. They must bring a copy of a mortgage loan or property deed or rental agreement or rental receipt as proof of residence as well as one of the following: copy of recent utility bill, recent homeowner's insurance payment receipt or payroll check stub, or payroll form with address.
Jackson-Milton: Registration for kindergarten and new pupils in grades one through five will be from 9 to 11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. March 14-15 at Jackson-Milton Elementary School, 14110 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson. Parents must produce two proofs of residence. One must be from this list: house closing papers, a deed, mortgage documents, building permit, rental lease, rental agreement or notarized parent residence affidavit. The other must be from this list: two current utility bills, two current charge statements, a driver's license or a tax statement.
Lisbon: Registration at McKinley Elementary School, 441 E. Chestnut St., will be from 9 to 10 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. March 5, 7, 9, 12, 14 and 16. Parents or guardians are advised to call the school at (330) 424-9869 for an appointment. Children need not accompany parents to registration. An appointment will be given for screening in April.
