LORDSTOWN — General Motors Corp. is attempting to sell about 170 acres near its Lordstown complex.
Tom Mock, a plant spokesman, said today the potential sale has no bearing on GM’s commitment to the complex.
“GM has never used the land and doesn’t plan to use it. It’s just a business decision,” he said.
A newsletter to GM employees said the proposed sale “is not connected to GM’s consideration of a potential future investment and new product program for the Lordstown complex.”
It said the move is partly for tax purposes. GM has hired a real estate company to handle the sale.
