NORTH LIMA -- The Beaver Township Park Board is looking for a few good hands to join the township's Friends of the Park volunteer effort.
Volunteers typically help with light tasks, such as planting flowers at one of the township's parks, township officials explained.
"It doesn't have to be anything too extreme or demanding," said Scott Conway, park board chairman. & quot;We need help with our events and some light cleanup, weeding and planting flowers. We appreciate any time or effort anyone can spare and is willing to give."
The board initiated the effort last year and relied on a half-dozen reliable volunteers to make activities at the parks a success, Conway said. This year the board has expanded its program and added several events.
"So of course we need more help," he said.
Meeting set
The board has scheduled an informational meeting for residents interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. March 21 at the township administration office.
Conway said this year, along with the township's annual summer music in the park series and corn roast, residents can look forward to an American Indian powwow, a Scottish day and other activities.
"We're just looking for township residents to get involved," he said. "We have a lot of good things going on and a lot to look forward to. It's a great opportunity for residents to make a difference in the township."
