Poland's Weigel 10th at state diving meet

CANTON -- Poland High's Sarah Weigel placed 10th in the Division II state diving competition Thursday at C.T. Branin Natatorium.
Weigel, a senior, scored 342.25 points from judges on 11 dives.
Brittany Teneyck, a senior from Millbury Lake, scored 457.55 to easily win the competition. Lemon-Monroe junior Nicole Brehm was second with 432.85.
Also advancing to the finals, Poland freshman Trish Vallinger finished in 14th place with 325.95 points, and Springfield junior Kacie Jaric was 17th with 232.95 points.
Other diving champions were David Colturi of Toledo St. John's Jesuit and Abby Johnston of Upper Arlington.
Colturi won the boys competition by nearly 50 points over runner-up Kris Hill, an Aurora senior. Colturi scored 536.95 points to Hill's 487.85. New Albany senior Brent Eichenseer was third with 481.65 points.
Johnston won the girls Div. I event with a final score of 447.05 points. Kristen Asman of Columbus Whetstone was second with 433.85 and Aubrey Akromas of Solon placed third with 417.70.
