Niles man confesses rapes to police

NILES — Police Chief Bruce Simeone says a 40-year-old Warren man went to police after his wife left him and told them he had raped children.

As a result, Norris A. Mills, of Front Street, is in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond after being charged with rape by both Niles and Bazetta Township police.

He will be arraigned Friday in Niles Municipal Court on the Niles rape charge.

Police said Mills walked into the Warren Police Department   Tuesday afternoon and began talking about sexual assaults committed in Niles and Bazetta. Warren detectives contacted those police departments.

Simeone said Mills’ wife had moved out of their home and that he “needed to tell all.”

In Niles, Mills is accused in the rape of a 12-year-old girl over a period of several months. Simeone said Mills had developed a relationship with her family before the assaults began, Simeone said.
